We have learned from the past that D&I initiatives get negatively impacted during crisis time. Reports from China – being first to be impacted by the current pandemic show that many organizations have put D&I initiatives on hold and de-prioritized it over other business criticalities. The current pandemic has forced large-scale remote working which has adversely impacted the inclusive culture. While this is a potential danger – we also have some positive supporting research proving that the nations and companies that took bold D&I initiatives in normal and in such trying times were better off to pull through the crisis. So is D&I a burden or a powerful tool to get back to normal business?
We are at a crossroads. Its time to refresh our understanding of D&I especially with reference to gender diversity, equity and inclusion
