The current VUCA world is building intense emotions causing people to lose their balance. Staying calm in such a turbulent time is a struggle. We can’t always control the flood of emotion however we can control our response to it. Calming down is a skill that be honed by understanding how our brain functions and practising techniques to bring the brain’s response to restore calmness. Being aware of what’s going on in our brains can help us put the breaks and calm down, rather than reacting in ways that hurt us later.
